Nobody wants my money...!!

{[['']]}
I dont know what it is about Bangalore...but people here seem to be averse to the idea of accepting money. Ever since i moved here, it has extremely hard for me to pay anyone. Some examples -

- Bai : Rs. 250/- to wash clothes, clean house, and was utensils. I suggested that i would pay here another 100 bucks a month for filling up drinking water from the landlady's house (which is right next door - in fact this was the landlady's suggestion). My other options were buying a water filter or getting a 20 liter mineral water jar. She said NO. Did not make a counter offer.
- Gym: Membership expired 2 days ago. I said i am moving back to Bombay in 2 weeks; I do not want to take a month's membership, can he cut me a deal for 2 weeks? He said NO. All or nothing.
- Office computer maintainance company: Asked them to upgrade 2 comps some time back. Retail value of upgrade was about Rs. 6000/-. They showed up after about a dozen calls, threats, visits to their office.
- Previous computer maintainance co.: Was fired cause they did not show up for weeks when something went wrong. Apart from a monthly maintainance, we are paying them a small token amount each time they visit.
- Rickshawallas: Across Bangalore, they would rather hangout at a naka and chill than travel to any place other than a single destination in their mind. This could happen at any time during the day, starting at any point and a request to go anywhere. Frequently offering large sums of money does you no good.
- Local grocery shop: Does not store Nestle Milk. I asked if he can keep the milk, i will buy a litre every few days. No.
- Bungalow opposite my house offering cooking classes: "Mam, i would like to join a class". NO. The class is only for ladies!! Yes, she said 'ladies'....
- CD rental store (equipped with a tv, burner, player, et all): "I want to buy a movie CD - how much?" Rs. 200/-....how much to rent?...Rs. 30/-....well, i can rent it, buy a blank CD for 10 bucks and voila i have a CD for Rs. 40/-, but i will pay you 75/-, what say? NO - Rs. 200/- flat rate.

There are so many more incidents....i just get a feeling that people in Bangalore have attained nirvana and are not as materialistic as us mumbai capitalists.....well, i am not one to be hanging around in a nirvana cloud. Bombay, im coming home.
