Breaking News or Faking News on Star News??

{[['']]}
Friday night. I am waiting for a flight to Bangalore at Mumbai Airport. Nothing to do, so i walk towards a TV airing Star News.

The "Breaking News" is that there is a 'website' that has images of all of India's key military installations, important sites etc. The site supposedly has aerial views of ALL of India's strategic sites from the Parliament House to air forces bases to ports etc. The reporter is screaming away how this is a crisis for national security, the government has to look into this, its the end of the world, blah, blah, blah.

He goes on to say how this 'website' makes crores of dollars every year sourcing critical information such as this.

I look closely and realize its Google Earth!!

What the hell is wrong with Star News??? Google Earth has been around for more than a year. The controversy has come and gone. By no means it is breaking news. Even the external ministry has given up on it. Also, the images are available for all countries. Then again, do we really think that the images beamed by Google Earth are not already available at a million spy agencies across the planet??

All i could see was a cheap, panic arousing, ignorant, sorry attempt to capture a few points on the viewership ratings. Just how irresponsible can the channel get?? At a time when there are floods across the country, cabinet ministers accepting bribes, a war in the middle east, in Sri Lanka, Sudan/Ethiopia, the navy selling secrets, record profits by IT companies, a highly volatile stock exchange, politicians accepting bribes on camera, policemen raping women, an AIDS epidemic across India, and so much other madness, has Star News really run out of 'breaking news'??

I think the cartoon network is the only channel worth watching....
