Sheikh Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, a.k.a. Dawood Ibrahim is my man for the next mayor of Mumbai. Below is a synopsis of his life from little Ratnagiri to Dubai and a brief list of his achievements:- Son of a police constable (boy, do i love the start of this story) from Ratnagiri
- Began his career in Mumbai working for the Karim Lala gang - key focus areas - Nagpada and Dongri. His internship with Lalaji involved working at the ground level - key deliverables were extortion, murder, smuggling and kidnapping.
- Between 1990-1992,there was a rift between one time close associates and aides Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan. Rifts with Arun Gawli (now MLA...hahaha) and Abu Salem (now in jail...his girlfriend too..HAHAHA...losers) followed soon enough. Lot of people died in ensuing gang wars. Mumbai police read about it in the papers.
- Sometime in the early 90s, he also moved from Dongri to Dubai. Thats where the action was. Plus he got an AC office and stock options there. Anyway, 1993 was the year of his calling. The bomb blasts in Mumbai let everyone know who the boss really was. The 'D' brand had finally been established and was here to stay.
- Following the blasts, peopleacross India tried to give him a lot of heat - attaching his properties, arresting his homies in Bombay, raiding his godowns...the usual noise when a new campaign is launched. Well, he pulled through all of that, ensured that a lot of his properties remained intact, re-purchased auctioned properties, bumped off witnesses, got his fraternity boys out of jail, essentially a wild clean-up operation.
- In the late 1990s, Dawood Ibrahim is "said" to have traveled to Afghanistan under the protection of the Taliban (this info is not validated, but when i do speak to D, i will ask him if this is true).
- Through the 90s and until now, D has ensured a growth in all his business verticals and horizontals. Extortion grew at a phenomenal 67% a year, thanks to the boom in the film industry, his narcotics division grew at 48% year, thanks to a 'consolidation' within the industry, the 'garbage disposal' business remained at a steady 14% annual growth. 'Other' investments - piracy, dance bars, prostitution, smuggling, etc. - also grew at a healthy 26%.
- During all this time, D has built a flourishing business and provided employment to thousands of under-privileged youths, a side income for thousands of judges, police officers, bureaucrats and babus in general and stupendous dividends to stockholders at very regular intervals. He has also raised trade between India, Pakistan and the Middle East to record levels.
- Apart from all this, he has ensured that the FBI, RAW, CIA, ISI, BMC, MCOCA, FIFA, ABC, XYZ, and all other concerned acronyms have been kept at bay. A shining example of this is how he has kept the Sara Sahara Mall from being razed for years now. Today is a sad day for this great entrepreneur. I bet he has tears in his eyes as he watches a 17 year old reporter from NDTV explain in detail how the Sara Sahara Mall is illegal and other such lies.
Now, i think he would be so much a better candidate for mayor of mumbai than all the morons we have had in the last 50 years. I think D could be an inspiration to all of us and actually get something done, make a difference in our lives, bring about change....
