Lets (S)talk - the classic tale of indian juxtaposition

{[['']]}
It has been a long time since i 'contributed' to the 'Only In India' page and after all this while, i unfortuantely could not come up with anything substantial except this. this also ensures that in the next dot com burst, we are unlikely to get any new funding..not that we had one anyways.

which brings me to my newest post...

with mumbai under attack from its custodians (Read: BMC, MMRDA, Govt of Maharashtra, Govt of India, Urban Development Ministry et al), i have had to bear the brunt of this attack of these entities who come from Mars.

now, with every problem or at least what seems like one , there is something more to it than meets the eye and in this case there defintely is. lets examine the positives of good roads and sanitation, non overflowing gutters etc. we have more peaceful citizens, lesser road rage, cleaner Mumbai etc. nice isnt it??!

now let me throw in one or two more elements into this equation ..a booming economy despite the various infrastructure bottlenecks and what we have is a rather juxtaposed situation. education is now trickling down, media is exploding everyday as it were and people's awareness on issues ranging from their rights to sex is going up.

enough of the background now...

let me get to it.

there are inherent advantages to the rape and pillage of our city by our custodians.

and for this i would like to cite an example. have you ever been stalked or thought of stalking someone. well if your answer is YES to the first part of the question, then i suggest you SHOULD read ahead and if your answer is yes to the second part. THEN YOU DEFINTIELY MUST do the same.

i dont knw if stalking by its definition is recognized in absolute terms by our consitution and judiciary, the way it is say in the US or the developed world. However i assure you in at least this infrastructure starved country, we are safe from this evil.

try this on for good measure. try following someone from their house (a good looking girl maybe a good idea as men in this country are particulary homophobic..unless you are travelling in a general compartment of a local train). Chances are that your following this person would end up in nought as eventually the traffic (cows, donkeys, in some areas a pack of dogs, cyclists, two men holding hands crossing a road, two women holding hands crossing the road) would stop you in your tracks.

the same situation with kidnapping. i mean think about it, how often do you hear of kidnappings in Mumbai. whilst i wont recommend anyone trying this (to prove me wrong) but chances are that you wont get very far either. whats worse is that the guys car who you stole to pick this other random guy is likely to be scratched and dented - not while getting away as much as it would by some milkman trying to weave his way through traffic. ASK ME and i wasnt even kidnapping anyone.

Now, i would love it for Rajdeep Sardesai to pick on this topic for his program QUESTION OF THE DAY ..IS BAD INFRASTRUCTURE A GOOD THING? sms in your replies to QOTD Y, N to ....you get the picture

thats why being in india is a greater education than any business school in the world.

its a school called LIFE.
